For the Chalets and Caviar Real Estate WordPress site I chose the AgentPress Pro child theme for the Genesis framework. Overall I tried to keep the site minimalist and elegant while maintaining a somewhat rustic “Colorado” vibe. For colors I used an earthy brown along with spring green to reflect colors associated with the Rocky Mountains. The icon and logo I created feature a simple Aspen leaf.
The Home Page and Menu
The header menu is minimalist and features only four links: Home, For Sale, For Rent, and Contact Us. In the hero section of the front page I used a large image of the Maroon Bells with aspens in autumn foliage. There is a search properties widget placed at the bottom of the hero image where properties can be searched by type, size, etc. Below the hero section, there are six featured listings. These display the featured image for each listing in addition to price and address.
The footer section features an embedded Google map with location, business hours, and contact info. The header menu is echoed in the footer with another Contact link. The side bar features another Search Properties widget.
Each listing page has a featured image backstretched across the top of the page. Beneath the property address with pertinent property information. There is an embedded Google map displaying the location of the property on each page.
The contact page features a contact form. I used the Ninja Forms plugin to create the customized form.
Plugins I used during development included Regenerate Thumbnails to resize images, Featured Custom Post Type Widget for Genesis, and Ninja Forms. The images were manually optimized in Gimp. The website is made responsive to work on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
Working on the Chalets and Caviar site was a good opportunity to create a functional real estate website.
